University of Hawaii/ Maui- Pollinators Garden Field Trip
September 26, 2019
Our September 12, 2019 field trip - Maui Sugar Plantation/Museum
Our Essential Question:
How did Maui become so culturally diverse (so many cultures on our island)?
Topic : Social Studies
Historical Inquiry SS.2.2.1
Investigate the history of families using level-appropriate primary sources (e.g., artifacts, photographs, interviews, documents).
Before we go to the Sugar Museum we will do some investigating. We will look into our cultures. We begin on Grandparent's Day by asking our families all about our family tree. Primary sources are a great way to learn about the past. Next, we'll try on some clothing that may have been worn in the sugar cane fields many, many years ago and learn about some of the cultural things we do today that may have begun long ago. We are going to have a lot to share.
